Do you agree with me when I believe, “Dark clouds are slowly giving away. And here and there we even see a glimpse of the rainbow”.
Well, we are feeling some relief.
The vaccines are rolling out and it’s building momentum. Not only momentum but more vaccines at greater volumes will be made available soon.
Obviously, I am optimistic. Why not?
South Africa, Cape Town is doing great. The red-carpet is being prepared for you; our long missed Cape Town Travel friends.
Today I want to share with you nothing but good news. For example:
I’ll share the amazing plans by the Western Province, Cape Town, Stellenbosch and others to ensure your experiences are no longer limited by load shedding.
The central Government has many draggers like the RET faction. Even though the Government is making unpopular changes to benefit us all. Like changes to the outdated visa regime. And some people, in power, who fail are now getting confronted with the consequences.
The local, Western Cape Premier, Allan Winde, is pushing them for “nomad working” visas. Rightly so.
You’ll read about how travel is changing post-Covid. As more digital nomads travel to stay in Cape Town (and the world) for longer periods of time. They expect business ready homes, fast Internet, no load shedding etc.
The second major trend is pod travelling. Basically, one or two families travel together and stay in larger homes. But they want exclusive use. Are we seeing the ice age coming? How will this trend affect hotels and guest houses?
In the meantime, our holiday homes are being fitted with every possible digital nomad feature; basic inverter systems to keep the most important features running with no disruption and excellent internet.
One of the things our accommodation business is changing is to build better relationships with you. In the past, when you stayed with us; you paid at least 15% too much when you booked through an Online Travel Agency (OTA).
We thought…….(Covid does that; makes you think!)
Why not ask you to assist us in getting the message out? And then give you a better direct booking deal?
Sharing is giving. If this world is now becoming a sharing economy why not use it to your advantage?
Do you also see a few rainbows? Or am I just another naive optimist?

[And] had emerged out of the deadly second wave with the number of new infections, admissions to hospital and deaths falling significantly and that they continued to do so.
“In the week that has just passed, the country recorded just under 10,000 new infections. A month ago, in the last week of January, the country recorded over 40,000 new cases. And a month before that, in the last week of December, the country recorded close to 90,000 new cases,” he said, adding that SA was clearly past the second wave of infections. No wonder we are down to level one.
